The Romantic Rhine stretches from Bingen and Rüdesheim in the south to Remagen and Unkel in the north.

Unkel lies at the southern tip of the Siebengebirge-Drachenfels region. Although the town’s timber-framed houses are stunning, it is the prison tower - Unkel’s trademark - which really catches the eye. In 1979 Willy Brandt moved here, living as a “citizen amongst citizens”. The Willy-Brandt-Forum preserves the memory of the town’s famous resident with a permanent exhibition.
